Telegram Cloud Storage
Every Telegram account already includes free cloud storage inside Saved Messages. TG Drive turns that chat into a real cloud drive — folders, search, a media gallery and optional zero-knowledge AES-256 encryption — with no server, no database and no subscription.

What is Telegram cloud storage?
Telegram gives every account a private cloud store inside the Saved Messages chat. Anything you send to yourself — documents, photos, video, archives — is uploaded to Telegram servers and stays available on every device you sign in to. Each file can be up to 2 GB on a normal account (4 GB with Telegram Premium), and Telegram advertises the total space as unlimited rather than selling you a fixed quota.
It is the same storage tier Telegram uses for your normal chats, so there is nothing to configure and nothing to pay for. The catch is the interface: Saved Messages is one endless chat, not a drive. That is the gap TG Drive fills.
Turn Saved Messages into a real cloud drive
TG Drive is a client-side web app (and native Android app) that speaks the Telegram MTProto 2.0 protocol directly from your browser and organises your Saved Messages into a Google Drive-style interface.
- Unlimited free storage backed by your own Telegram account
- Up to 2 GB per file, with 4 GB files on Telegram Premium
- Optional zero-knowledge AES-256-GCM encrypted vault, keys derived with memory-hard Argon2id
- Nested folders, instant search, grid and list views, media gallery and streaming previews
- Batch uploads, smart download queue and pause/resume transfers
- Web PWA plus a native Android app with biometric unlock
- No server, no database and no hosting bill — nothing to keep online but Telegram
Is it safe to use Telegram as cloud storage?
Telegram encrypts data in transit and at rest on its own servers, but the keys are Telegram's, so the plaintext of a file stored in Saved Messages is readable by the service. That is fine for throwaway files and not fine for private documents.
TG Drive adds an optional encrypted vault on top: file contents are sealed on your device with AES-256-GCM before they ever reach Telegram, and file names, MIME types and folder membership are encrypted with a separate HKDF-derived metadata key. Your Master PIN never leaves the device, and the vault key is never published in a form that allows offline PIN guessing. With the vault on, Telegram stores ciphertext it cannot read.
Telegram cloud storage vs Google Drive
Google Drive's free tier gives you 15 GB shared across Drive, Gmail and Photos, and asks you to pay once you pass it. Telegram already gives you far more for free — the only thing missing is the drive experience, which is what TG Drive provides.
| TG Drive on Telegram | Google Drive free tier | |
|---|---|---|
| Storage quota | Unlimited (advertised by Telegram; shown as 9999 TB) | 15 GB shared with Gmail and Photos |
| Maximum file size | 2 GB per file (4 GB with Telegram Premium) | 5 TB per file |
| Cost | Free — no subscription | Free tier, then paid plans |
| Encryption | Optional zero-knowledge AES-256-GCM vault | Server-side encryption |
| Account needed | Your existing Telegram account | A Google account |
| Apps | Web PWA and native Android APK | Web, mobile and desktop |
How to access your Telegram cloud storage
You do not need to create an account or install anything to start: your Telegram cloud already exists.
- Open Telegram and open the Saved Messages chat.
- Send yourself a file, photo or document. It is now stored in your free Telegram cloud and syncs to every device.
- To browse it as a drive, open TG Drive and connect your Telegram account using the two-minute setup guide.
- Your Saved Messages appear as folders and files, with search, a media gallery and streaming previews.
- Optional: turn on the Encrypted Vault so every file you upload is sealed with AES-256-GCM before it leaves your device.
Frequently asked questions
How do I access my Telegram cloud storage?
Open Telegram and tap Saved Messages — everything you send yourself is stored there. To see it as a structured drive with folders and search, open TG Drive and connect your Telegram account; your Saved Messages are indexed into a Google Drive-style file manager.
Is it safe to use Telegram as cloud storage?
Telegram encrypts stored data, but Telegram itself can read it. For sensitive files, enable the TG Drive encrypted vault: contents and file names are encrypted client-side with AES-256-GCM, so Telegram only ever stores ciphertext it cannot decrypt.
How big is the Telegram cloud?
Telegram does not publish a fixed total quota and advertises storage as unlimited. Individual files can be up to 2 GB (4 GB with Telegram Premium). TG Drive displays that effectively limitless space as 9999 TB on the dashboard.
Can I use Telegram for unlimited cloud storage?
Yes. Telegram Saved Messages is the free unlimited storage layer, and TG Drive is the drive interface on top of it. There are no storage tiers to buy and no monthly fee.
How do I clear Telegram cloud storage?
Delete the messages in Saved Messages, or delete the files from TG Drive — both remove the underlying Telegram messages and free the space immediately. Deleting a file inside TG Drive removes the Telegram message it points to.
Is there a free unlimited cloud storage service?
You already have one if you use Telegram. Pairing Telegram Saved Messages with a drive client such as TG Drive gives you unlimited free storage without a new account or a subscription.
What is the best Telegram cloud storage app?
TG Drive is a serverless, open-standards client: a Progressive Web App plus a native Android APK. Unlike self-hosted options it needs no VPS, database or Docker, and it adds an optional zero-knowledge encrypted vault.
Is there a Telegram Drive APK for Android?
Yes — TG Drive ships a native Android APK as well as an installable PWA. The APK adds biometric unlock through the Android Keystore.
